Rug repair, rewoven by hand - fringe, edges, holes, and moth damage.
For more than a decade, the Cohen family has repaired rugs of every kind by hand - fringe and edges rebound, holes and tears rewoven, moth and pet damage rebuilt on a matched foundation. Every repair is done on our own bench, on premises, with color-matched yarn that blends into the original weave. No glue, no tape, no patches. Complimentary pickup across Manhattan, the Hamptons, Westchester, Greenwich, and Stamford.
Fringe, edges, holes, moth damage - all rewoven by hand.
Most rug damage is entirely repairable, and far more affordably than owners expect. We rebuild the damaged area on our bench with matched yarn so the fix disappears into the weave - on any rug, any fiber.
Fringe Repair
Worn, unraveling, or missing fringe re-secured or rewoven by hand. The most common rug repair, and the one most often botched by cutting it off.
Edges, Binding & Selvedge
Frayed sides re-wrapped and re-bound so the rug stops unraveling from the edge inward. Rebuilt, not taped.
Holes & Tears
Punctures, tears, and worn-through spots rewoven knot by knot on a matched foundation, blended into the surrounding pattern.
Moth Damage
Chewed pile and weakened areas treated for larvae, then rewoven on a sound foundation with color-matched wool.
Pet & Wear Damage
Chewed corners, pulled loops, and traffic-worn patches rebuilt with matched yarn so the wear disappears.
Curling, Buckling & Padding
Edges that curl and ripples that trip are flattened and blocked, and the rug is fitted with a proper pad to keep it flat.
How a rug repair moves through our atelier.
An honest quote first, the reweaving by hand, and a repair that blends away.
Inspection and an honest quote.
Our master artisan examines the damage, the fiber, and the foundation by hand, then gives you a clear, transparent price before any thread is touched. No surprise up-charges once the rug is in our care.
Repaired by hand on the bench.
Rewoven, re-bound, or patched with color- and tension-matched yarn, one stitch at a time on our restoration bench. All on premises, by the Cohen family, never outsourced and never machine-assisted.
Blended, finished, returned.
The repair is matched in color, knot density, and pile height so it disappears into the original weave. The rug is groomed, finished by hand, and returned to your home in better condition than it left.
Which one does your rug need?
Repair is the targeted fix that keeps a rug in service: a rebound fringe, a closed hole, a moth spot, a curling edge. It is quick, affordable, and right for the rugs you live with every day, of any type and any fiber.
Restoration is conservation-grade rebuilding of a fragile or valuable antique - full reweaving, foundation rebuild, and color work over weeks, by the same hands. If that is what your piece needs, it belongs in our oriental rug restoration service. Not sure which you need? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly, the same way we would about a valuable antique.
